Canada response to Trump Tariffs

(AMP) February 2, 2025
In response to the Trump tariffs, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced tariffs on American products and goods.

We will always stand up for Canada.
Canada will be responding to US trade actions with 25% tariffs against 155 Billion Dollars worth of American goods. This will include immediate tariffs on $30 Billion worth of goods as of Tuesday, followed by further tariffs on $125 Billion of American products in 21 days time to allow Canadian companies and supply chains to seek to find alternatives. Like the American tariffs, our response will also be far reaching and include every day items such as American beer, wine, and bourbon. Fruits and fruit juices, including orange juice, along with vegetables, perfume, clothing, and shoes. It will include major consumer products like household appliances, furniture, and sports equipment, and materials like lumber and plastics, along with much, much more.

And, as part of our response we are considering, with the provinces and territories, several non-tariff measures, including some related to critical materials, energy procurement and other partnerships.

We will stand strong for Canada. We will stand strong to ensure our countries continue to be the best neighbors in the world.

Bishop Heroic Plea for Mercy from Felonius

Editorial
The first week of Felonius, formerly known as Donald J. Trump, rule after inauguration was everything I expected it would be.

Like many of us, the editor of AMP News was hoping for some heroic interdiction to stop the forewarned Project 2025. I expected nothing good to happen whatsoever. No surprise.

The closest we came to seeing a momentary shining star was when Bishop Mariann Budde spoke truth to power asking the first convicted criminal felon to be inaugurated President of the United States of America for mercy for the many immigrants and transgender and LGBTQ+ people who are in fear of their lives in the wake of Project 2025 during the National Prayer Service at Washington National Cathedral on Jan. 21 in Washington, D.C.
After the sermon which had a theme of Unity by the heroic Episcopalian Bishop, the despicable Felonius wasted no time in disrespecting and insulting the sermon and the service in the National Cathedral.
