Social Media

Where else to find AMP News on Social Media:

Counter Social CoSo! Preferred for friendly social interaction between people, with no popularity algorithms, and lots of great features, such as CoSoCall, and CoSoMovies, and an AI butler named Alfred.
CounterSocial at http://counter.social is the preferred social media site for people who value diversity, equality, and inclusion. Not a good choice for “dickheads” (it’s actually in the terms of use) and trouble makers from the politically extreme right. Bad actors are likely to be removed automatically within minutes or just a few hours. In addition to nice, friendly members, CoSo has the best security of other SM sites, and does a great job at keeping out riff-raff and foreign election influencers. CoSo is funded by donations from the user base, does not use advertising, and does not sell user data.
Unlike sites that sell user data, with CoSo “we are not the product”.
AMP News no longer has a presence on CoSo but the editor, (me, myself, and I), personally does. I have enjoyable chats there.

Blue Sky is a possible alternative for those who want to promote themselves and/or their business. In my opinion, so far, after about a year of use, it does not appear to be as good for friendly social interaction with real people as CoSo, but is easy enough to post and read posts by others, including some well-known people. AMP News does have a presence on BlueSky … a very small presence.

Mastodon.Social I haven’t given this much of a trial yet. Should be avoided until better moderation and security is proven. There are some decent sites which use the Mastodon software, but some of them were quite nasty when I tried a dozen different Mastodon servers a year ago. The main site may have suspended many of the worst servers since then.

Post.News some notable persons who wanted to get off the dead bird site went there instead. I wasn’t impressed. I don’t think they were either.

Twitter – links to X are banned. In my opinion, it is best to avoid as not to be trusted unless you want private details about you, and your posts, to be used to train their AI software. Uses popularity algorithms which make it important to get thousands of followers for your posts to be prioritized to be noticed. Some people spend a lot of time following people and begging to be followed. After purchase of Twitter by the world’s richest man, and changes to X, many users left.

Facebook – The users data is their product. Other than that major turnoff, it does a good job for finding what your relatives and lifelong friends are up to. I don’t want to give their database all the data they ask about me. It’s very intrusive.
