Yesterday, aUSN F/A-18 (two seat) was shot down over the Red Sea in what appears to be afriendly fire incident. They had just flown off the deck of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. “The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” Central Command said in astatement. Both crew members from Strike Fighter Squadron 11 out of NAS Oceana ejected safely and were recovered alive.

(AMP) 5 July, 2023 Today, the US Navy reports the guided missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74) prevented an Iranian ship from trying to seize two oil tankers in international waters near the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian ship fired multiple times on one of the tankers.
