In addition to threats against the American people, the first convicted felon to be inaugurated President in the history of the United States of America has begun a trade war against Canada, our closest ally, friend, and neighbor, in the form of tariffs on products imported from Canada.
Canada has responded with tariffs on a wide range of products American companies export into Canada.
This trade war will hurt the national economies of both countries. It will cause inflation as businesses pass along their costs of doing business cost to consumers. Some companies will go out of business as consumers tighten their belts by purchasing fewer consumer goods, resulting in higher unemployment rates. Many families are already having difficult times just trying to put food on the table. If they are lucky enough to stay employed, those who commute to work will be paying more at the gas pumps.
The 25% tariff increase on Canadian goods entering America is totally unnecessary. Trudeau and Canadians are fully justified in standing up for themselves. The only one who might reap some benefit is Trump himself. In 2028, if the old “dictator on day one” is still alive, he’ll be able to remind the American people “elections have consequences” as Felonius the First calls for an end to fair elections in America.
